Daniel & foster sytem

I know this is a bit of a random search, but are there any stories where Daniel somehow gets custody of a foster child, or even just meets one and tries to help him/her?
Or failing that, stories where he meets a child that has been orphaned or abused and he takes it in?

2.
Stories dealing with Daniel's time in the foster system. I don't mind stories where he's already grown up and he meets someone from the past, or he experiences flashbacks.

Basically any story that deals with Daniel and the foster system is fine.

Orrymain has Jack and Daniel with a large family - some of their children are adopted. The beginning of this is a story called Ten Months.

Thanks, I liked it so much that I've now started to read the entire series,which will keep me occupied for quite some time.
