So it has alwasy struck me that Jack's "Earth needs you" explanation for not letting Daniel go to Atlantis has always come across as a little...fragile, that is, it doesn't seem to hold up very well, at least for me.

SO I was wondering if there are any stories that deal with the real reason for not letting him go,or at least explain his reasoning. Ideally, I'd like stories where the reason has to do with Jack being in love with Daniel and he simply doesn't want him to be so far away. Stories where this admission leads to a relationship would be beyond amazing, as well as stories where Daniel confronts Jack about it privately.
Gen stories would be good too though. for example stories that maybe explain this as Jack not trusting anyone else to keep Daniel from dying or something.
So anything out there? even stories that deal with this peripherally?

There is lovely fic by Lady Ra called Wraith Killers (http://www.visionsofprettyboys.com/Atlantis/WraithKillers.htm). It is a Jack/Daniel and McShep pairing where Daniel pulls a fast one on Jack and gets Jack to approve his transfer to Atlantis without realizing it. Jack doesn't like that so he follows his geek to the Pegasus Galaxy still unsure of why he can't let him go... One of my favorites!

I love this one, too! And I'm not an Atlantis fan, but you don't have to be to enjoy the Jack/Daniel parts.
