Searching AU of The Return recs

Hi everyone,

I'm craving some AU stories of the season three episode The Return (1 and 2). There are two specific kinds of AUs I'm looking for.

1. Fics where Atlantis picks John over the Ancients. It could be because Atlantis is sentient, but also because John has the stronger gene, or has bonded with the city for other reasons. Even because Rodney made some security program for just such an occasion. Basically, any AU where the Ancients can't lock the expedition out of the systems because of John.

2. Fics where John (and perhaps others of the expedition) refuses to leave Pegasus. Could be he stays on Atlantis, could be he goes with Teyla, could be he goes rogue on alien planets, or steals a jumper, anything that keeps him in Pegasus while (most of) the expedition goes home. Don't care if some, like Rodney, also stay behind, but the most part of the expedition should go home to Earth.

I'll take any recs that fit 1, 2 or both. Gen, slash, even het is acceptable. Long or shot, I don't care. But please don't rec fics that have been abandoned!

the last installment in Tarlan's Sentience series (http://davidhewlett.tarlanx.com/fiction/viewseries.php?seriesid=9) fits 1 (though it's because the city's extremely possessive about in love with John and Jack and Rodney, not just John. (McShep, Jack/Daniel, other pairings)

I'm not going to be much help, There is a story, Jack knows Jonathan Kent and promises to help Clark if there is any trouble. Lex and Clark are together but Lex's father and a general try to grab Clark, so Martha sends him to Jack. He and Daniel start turning Clark into just another soldier at SGC when things heat up, so they send him to Atlantis. Clark later finds the ancient spaceship and brings them back to Atlantis but overhears them plotting to take the city back. Clark talks to the city and tells her she has to decide to obey John or the people who abandoned her 10,000 years ago. So John gets the command codes downloaded into his head and the Ancients get very frustrated. Ends with Lex coming to Atlantis. Everyone gets an even part in the story. It's very good but I haven't been able to find the story name or author.

Hopefully someone else can help.

I second Sentience by Tarlan, it's one of my favorites.

#2 - they don't stay on purpose but it's a wonderful series.

There is one very good one I read recently, John is being recalled to Earth and a bunch of people (Rodney of course) kidnap him and take him to where they have set up a new home on some planet in Pegasus. Lorne and Radek are there for sure. Sorry no name or author.

Sounds like you might not mind if they're not The Return-specific for 2. :)
If so, ratcreature maintains a themed list which includes "expedition members settle elsewhere in Pegasus" and "Atlantis secedes" (http://ratcreature.net/fannish_stuff/sga_thematiclist_atlantiscutoff.php) that includes the stories recced above and many more good ones...

And a) I don't think you're alone! b) in that case, you might also like sga_episodefic which lists different tags, missing scenes, and AUs for SGA episodes, including The Return (just scroll down to the tags in the sidebar). c) some of the sgabigbang (http://sgabigbang.talkoncorners.net) fics have also had AU takes on The Return, I think.
And for 2, if you liked the "conspiracy by the good guys" aspect in some of the fics recced above you might also like Finding Home (http://sgabigbang.talkoncorners.net/?view=fic&id=37) by Diamond Raven.
