I know that story as well, but I'm not sure where I read it. I believe it was a group of renegade Asgard that were experimenting on them. They were using the machine that Niirti built, I think, to try and break down the block Thor put on Jack's genes. His friends are transported with him into his cell, but only realize a while later, that the forcefield only works on those who have the ATA gene. So they go out, find the girl and manage to break everyone out. They beam down to the planet and the renegade Asgard are searching for them. They figure out that they're in the Ida galaxy, but can't remember the address to get to the Asgard homeworld.
