This Daniel is a little less inclined to stand up for himself than i prefer. (I'm understating, here, the first time I read it, it bugged me, but i went back for seconds and in the context of this story and its moral, it just worked)
There's a great fic where Daniel opens his own bookstore and I've misplaced it. I can't wait to see if anyone recs it here, because I'd love to read it again. I remember his return to the program being aggresively pursued, and Jack and many others protecting his right to whatever life he wants without being considered a security risk, including some ringing endoresments by some way way higher ups. (to say more would be to spoil it horribly)
