It does feel like part of a bigger story, not least because Daniel doesn't appear until two thirds of the way in; but Phoenix doesn't leave you hanging halfway through a paragraph, it's got more of an 'End of Act One' feel to it. To be honest, I've read 'complete' stories with less satisfying conclusions.
It is pre-slash, though, so there is obviously a sad lack of kissing. But other than that it's fantastic.
