Story content: Daniel does not wear glasses while jogging. A mugger jumps him, beats him up, discovers he has no money, and rapes him. Daniel goes to the hospital for a sprained ankle but does not tell anyone he was raped. He secretly schedules an appointment online to get an AIDS test. Jack finds out when he comes over and sees the appointment printout on the kitchen table. Daniel drops his glass of orange juice. Jack reassures him and eventually accompanies him to the test, where the attendants mistake him for Daniel's boyfriend (Jack is SO cute when embarrassed). Finally, Jack buys Daniel some strap-on glasses to wear while jogging. In the last scene, Daniel takes a jog through the same route he had when he was raped and makes it home. He recognizes Jack's truck parked down the street and realizes that Jack has been looking after him unobtrusively this whole time. He starts to wonder if maybe his and Jack's relationship can move on to a physical level... and the story ends on that cheerful note.
The author made the note that she wanted to write a story in which Daniel is shown to be fully capable of getting through a difficulty on his own, but Jack is there to support.
Please help! This was a beautiful and thoughtful story. I wanted to rec it to someone else and was foiled by my faulty memory. Thanks and virtual cookies in advance!
