If you want to bolster your argument, put together a powerpoint using some art, and perhaps a vid. The women will get why you slash, and the straight men will be pissed.
There are also comments from recent cons, where MS says he[d 'do Rick', and RDA explaining why the Jack/Daniel 'friendship' was at the very heart of the show. The actors were well aware of the slashing, and I think played up or down to it. (RDA used to touch and then stopped, etc.)
Also, there are a few academic books out there that have a chapter or two on slashing, as well as at least two articles from Time.
