I am usually a big time Sheppard whump fan (and who isn't?!) but I read a story where Lorne was captured and tortured that was so amazing and heartbreaking and eventually hopeful that I must read it again!!! In the story he was rescued by a team led by Laura Cadman (I think...). It dealt in depth with his recovery from his imprisonment and was quite realistic. The details I remember are:
Lorne captured while leading a team with scientists who are killed off one by one in front of him by the bad guys (He is the only survivor)
Cadman and he are friends before he was captured and she is very involved in his recovery after he is rescued
Massive emotional and mental anguish as he struggles with flashbacks, nightmares, terror in general
I may have found it on someone's rec list
I recall it being a story that grabs you and doesn't let go, even when it's over (thus my desperation to find it again~lol)
Thank you so much :)
