stargate_searchI've searched every archive I know for this fic but no joy. Here's hoping one of you kind people might be able to help me out. It's a long AU J/D fic (not on the AU thematic list). Daniel is living in a huge mansion with (I think) Nick's widow and her son. The son is keeping Daniel drugged, though the outside world think Daniel is mentally unbalanced. Jack is involved in the stargate program and approaches Daniel for help with a translation or something. Daniel starts working for the SGC but everyone is still convinced he's mentally ill until (I think) Jack figures out that it's Daniel's step-uncle/brother/whatever who is trying to steal Daniel's inheritance.
Some of the details may vary (LOL) but it's definitely novel length and NOT the AU where Kinsey is involved in drugging Daniel and Jack is a policeman. This is more alternate timeline than actual AU, I guess, since the stargate is central to the plot. Hammond and Janet are definitely in this story. Can't remember for sure about Sam and Teal'c.
Any help would be gratefully accepted.
Found it.... "The Gift" by ELG... thanks so much. I actually feel pretty stupid now, since it's a zine story and it hadn't even occurred to me to check my downloaded zines rather than archives (blush). It's a great story, though, and I'd recommend it wholeheartedly. Thanks again for the help.
