Okay, so after reading the sad news about Don S. Davis' death, I'm wanting to read some General Hammond stories.  Especially stories where he has a paternal relationship with Daniel.  Any suggestions?

EDIT:  Mucho stories found, links in comments.

Salieri wrote a lovely untitled snippet (http://troyswann.livejournal.com/136516.html) with General Hammond and Teal'c, early in season 1.

The only one I've got to rec doesn't have many SGC characters besides Hammond himself. It's The Winter of General Hammond's Heart. It's a romance with an OC, but it's actually pretty good.

There's another one, Coming Home by Draggon Flye, but it is no where on the internet. There was one place, but the link is broken and the site is no longer moderated... Sad.

I don't have the url and it's an AT/AU. It takes place at SGC & George is in command, but it is NOT cannon. "The Daddy Series" by Lady Arkin. Hopefully someone else can get the url. It's got about 9 parts and deals with Hammond's family history and his connection with the main people at SGC.

Orrymain's Jack/Daniel universe features Hammond quiet a lot. I love how he is seen as both a Commander and a Grandpa in this series. Check out "Brothers" in Season Six and most any story in Beyond The Series as Hammond is featured in a lot of these. Her Url is http://orrymain.com/

All these are gen.

These are links to several Hammond-centric recs, which in turn have links to the stories themselves:

Tin Pot (http://figs-sg1-rec.livejournal.com/74398.html), by [livejournal.com profile] aelfgyfu_mead. PG. Hammond and team take on Maybourne after Tin Man.

Changing the Guard (http://figs-sg1-rec.livejournal.com/15171.html), also by [livejournal.com profile] aelfgyfu_mead. PG. Jack and George, right before S9.

Penmanship (http://figs-sg1-rec.livejournal.com/69243.html), by [livejournal.com profile] troyswann. G. Beautiful, insightful, thoughtful piece with Hammond and Teal'c. Highly recommended.

The Day After (http://figs-sg1-rec.livejournal.com/52559.html), by Wendy. G. Crackfic. Hammond proves to be in charge all along.

Two (http://figs-sg1-rec.livejournal.com/45143.html), by Carin. G. A tribute to the man inside the uniform, and just plain enchanting. Highly recommended.

Present Tense (http://figs-sg1-rec.livejournal.com/15054.html), by Debby. PG. 1969 from George's POV.

Command Decisions (http://figs-sg1-rec.livejournal.com/13686.html), by Cannon. PG. Hammond's POV of a climactic scene from The First Commandment.

1969 Prime (http://figs-sg1-rec.livejournal.com/11845.html), by [livejournal.com profile] redbyrd_sgfic. PG. Fantastic look at the way events might have gone in 1969, and in the years between... the first time. Highly recommended.

Moments to Remember (http://figs-sg1-rec.livejournal.com/11714.html), by Pho. PG. Two widowers in the SGC have a chance for some quiet conversation. (This one fits the original poster's request very nicely.)

And here are the George Hammond fics that are still on my to-rec list:

But Who's Counting? (http://www.stargatefan.com/fictionms/But_Who.html), by Denise. PG. Lovely George POV in the wake of Nemesis, as he enacts a sober SGC ritual... and hopes that it will end as it always does for SG-1. (Nice Daniel and George moment in this one.)

Taking Command (http://soapbox-solo38.livejournal.com/47453.html), by [livejournal.com profile] soapbox_solo38. G. George reflects on life, liberty, and SG-1.

I Like the Quiet (http://sg-wonderland.livejournal.com/36498.html), by [livejournal.com profile] sg_wonderland. PG. George and Janet in Out of Mind/Into the Fire at the SGC.

Leaves That Were Green (http://cnidarian.livejournal.com/46214.html), by [livejournal.com profile] cnidarian. PG. Hammond has to take a journey to deliver some painful news.

And here are two Hammond-centric fics of my own:

You Know Me, Sir (http://sg-fignewton.livejournal.com/39796.html). G. Jack finds out that Hammond always rocks.

With All Due Respect (http://sg-fignewton.livejournal.com/39476.html). G. A still-amnesiac Daniel in Fallen considers General Hammond. (This one fits the orginal poster's request nicely, too.)

Well, here's a more literal Hammond/Daniel paternal relationship. Maureen T's Confessions in a Mother's Diary (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3996881/1/Confession_in_a_Mothers_Diary).
