J/D maybe, D/Other domestic abuse

I read a fic in another fandom that I could *swear* was far too similar to an SG-1 fic, but I can't find the SG-1 fic. Which means I may have dreamed it. :-) I want to find it before I run off saying someone's filing off serial numbers and posting fics as their own.

An old boyfriend tracks Daniel down and shows up in his apartment. He's slaps Daniel around and orders him to fix dinner. The guy's big and they'd first met when Daniel was fairly young and he finds himself falling into the old mindset that lets this guy control him. He knows where Daniel works (well, the mountain) and gets pissed whenever he has to work late or go on a mission. Jack ends up helping him out of the situation (don't remember if he kills the guy or if he winds up going to prison). I don't recall if Jack and Daniel get together or are just friends.

I found the ones labeled domestic abuse at Area52 and it's not one of those (the one with Tyler is *kinda* similar, but it doesn't have that one scene that rang the bell with me). I took a look through The Alpha Gate, but didn't find it there, either, but without the domestic abuse warning, it's tough to be sure I saw all the potentials.

So, am I just nuts and misremembering that I'd read this other one before, or does this SG-1 fic actually exist? (I don't even *read* many domestic abuse fics, but this is driving me crazy. ;-)

This might be "More than Friends" by Quinn. There is a sequel, "Tit for Tat."
I think I found it on Quinn's page but I don't seem to have a URL or bookmark to help. I'd look further but I've got to go out now. Hope this helps :-)

There are more than a few of these, but I don't keep track of this type of fic. The only other one that comes to mind is The Spawn of Iago (http://area52hkh.net/asb/blondesheep/iago.php) by The Blonde Sheep.

That's the one about Daniel's foster brother, I think, wasn't it? And the aliens who run them through a test where they're pitted against each other in the jungle or something?

I got nothin'. The dinner scene doesn't ping with me, nor is it the dinner scene I was looking for.

There's a similar one with Holding Your Own (http://area52hkh.net/asj/joolz/holding.php) by Joolz, but it's Jack that's threatened. Daniel scares the guy off by threatening him. I'm unable to find another one where Daniel finds out that Jack is living with a guy who takes all his money and has been beating him. In that one, SG-1 kills the guy when they confront him. Both are preslash.

I don't know if you are a fan of NCIS or not, but there is a story called Running on Ice by eoen that sounds an awful lot like what you have described. I hope this helps.

Haven't found it, so I'll have to say I dreamed it, but I could have SWORN it existed.

But since I have no proof and concede that it could easily be that I'm simply confusing it with a variety of others, I certainly wouldn't accuse the author of anything.

It's just still driving me crazy. :-)

LOL!!! I have issues with domestic abuse as it is and frankly, I can't imagine why I read these in the first place. None of the characters involved lend themselves to victimization in the first place.

But I guess that's what happens when you run out of new ones in preferred categories... you start branching out and reading *everything* else. ;-)

Oh, I *adore* a good rescue fic, but the idea that Daniel (SG-1) or Tony (NCIS) are victim-fodder is absurd.

As I was about to try and figure out what I'd consider a well done DA story with either one of them, I'm stopping here. I *know* where that leads (that's how I got into slash in the first place... then crossovers... then mpreg... then a book fic - I don't do book fic *sigh* ;-) and I'm not going there. :-)
