Anyone seen any promo pics of Claudia Black in her leather gear? I need them to show Media Studies students 'stereotypical' presentation of females in Science Fiction and I thought she might do as an non-stereotypical one.
I also (unfortunately) need them now as I have to do the presentation tomorrow and I need to get them into the powerpoint document tonight. Help!
Many thanks for the help in advance.

Date: 19 January 2009 11:49 pm (UTC)If you are looking for non stereotypical female characters in Scifi I'd have maybe gone for some of the ladies off Battlestar Galactica - Starbuck for instance. Very strong female lead that kicks arse, yet isn't overly sexified (is that a word?). Or maybe Zoe/Kaylee/River off Firefly. Or any of the ladies off Buffy and Angel.
Unless the example is that alot of women in modern scifi aren't forced to run around impractical figure-hugging outfits....except for Vala to begin with... :)
*looks at icon* Or Scully! She wore some dam ugly suits in her time but got the job done.
*has now gone off on an odd tangent....*

And there are some SF women who are very anti-stereotype such as Starbuck or Aeryn. But SF does have more than it's fair share of that rap too, lol! Not that you said it didn't.
