Ok. Read a fic a while back and I have no idea where it was from, what it was called or who wrote it. So yeah. I need some help here.

+ Jack/Daniel friendship.
+ fic!Daniel is a fair bit younger than canon!Daniel.
+ One of Jack's war buddies (like Cromwell but not) was one of Daniel's numerous foster parents.
+ He didn't abuse Daniel perse, more like ignored the hell out of him and then Daniel got passed on to other foster parents when Jack's friend couldn't look after him.
+ Jack finds out and Then There Is Angst between Jack and the friend, Daniel and the ex-foster parent, Jack and Daniel etc etc
+ They are arguing about it as Jack drives Daniel home
+ There is a car accident and Jack is injured/trapped in car
+ Daniel is omgwtfpanicking and Jack tells him to flag down help or something
+ Surprise, surprise, the help he flags down is the friend/ex-foster parent
+ In the process of rescuing Jack, they talk things over and angst is sorted out or something

It was somewhat well written, I think. In any case, I really really want to find out what fic it was. So ARGH PLEASE HELP etc. Thank you. :)

The guy is a hero of Jack's and he joins the SGC as another team leader. He took Daniel fishing and taught him baseball when he was his foster father. He had post-traumatic stress disorder and had flashbacks when Daniel spoke Arabic.

I'm not sure about the full title, but it might be called "Monarchs" I think, and it's by CelticAngel. I've no idea where you might find it though.

I haven't read it, but I googled for "monarchs by CelticAngel" based on the above comment, and found In the Days of Monarchs (http://home.comcast.net/~callioangel/monarchs.html). Summary is "A new Colonel at the SGC evokes painful memories from Daniel's past." Is that it?

*grins* I remember most details from fics that I really liked. ANd I really did like that one (possibly because I'd been trawling through ff.net when I came across it and sheesh, after going through there, it makes any vaguely well written fic look like pulitzer-prize-quality)
