List Of Fen Who Have Retired From Stargate Fandom

Retired Fen

The following is a list of fen (authors, artists, vidders, etc) who have
a) retired from fandom
b) removed their work from the internet
c) made a statement regarding their work being shared by fans
d) any or all of the above



If you know of anyone that belongs on this list, please leave a comment (with links to the relevant statement, if possible) and the list will be updated. We ask that people in this community respect the wishes of retired fen.



The following people have removed their work from the internet and do not mind if fans share their work amongst themselves:

* blue_underwing - removed Reversals from the internet, has stated that fans are welcome to share the file

* cedelede - removed their stories from the internet, has stated that fans are welcome to share them

* jane_elliot - removed Push/Pull from the internet, has stated that fans are welcome to share the file



The following people have retired from fandom and their work can still be accessed:

* eliade - stories remain accessible here

* gaiaanarchy - stories remain accessible here

* Karen McFadyyon - stories remain accessible here

* porntestpilot (formerly glitterandlube) - statement provided here, some stories remain accessible via AO3

* sardonicsmiley - stories remain accessible here



The following people have retired from fandom, removed their work from the internet and do not mind if fans share their work amongst themselves:

* 30toseoul - "I won't be posting them anywhere else (no personal webpage, no AO3) so it's fine if fans share their own saved copies." The author asks that, until November 2011, fans not share copies of her stories with requesters who appear (from their profile or otherwise) new to LJ or who are not previously known to the person who's willing to share the stories.

* notmonkey (Anais) - some stories remain accessible via Internet Archive

* rivier - statement provided here

How far back are you thinking?
For SGA, gaiaanarchy left fandom in Sept 2007, but lj remains accessible, ditto for stories (though the URL has been updated since, to http://www.fictionresource.com/gaia/ )
sardonicsmiley left the fandom, but stories remain accessible at http://smiley.zonezine.net
all but one of Karen McFadyyon's SGA stories are now back online at Wraithbait: http://www.wraithbait.com/viewuser.php?uid=3125
jane_elliot is going pro and removed one of her stories, Push/Pull, from the web, but doesn't mind if people email it between themselves: http://jane-elliot.livejournal.com/84180.html

As far back as anyone can remember ;-)

I think that, if fen have left fandom/no longer write in the fandom BUT they're still around, I'll leave them off the list because they are still accessible to their fans re requests.

I'll update the list and try to create categories that make sense. Thank you for the extra info.

Anais (notmonkey) retired from fandom and took her work down. As far as I know, she has no objection to people sharing files. Many fics are available via Internet Archive (http://web.archive.org/web/20060518234421/http://www.versaphile.com/anais/index2.asp).

Update...the link to the explanation for franticsga's exit and such now goes to an Access Denied page. i found that one of my links to a franticsga story went to the same place. i googled the lj user name and found this post.

Now the link appears to go to a fic masterlist. I think I'll just remove them from the list because I'm not sure what is and isn't accessible (but it seems like they haven't disappeared).

I'm not leaving fandom.

But I'm having to temporarily restrict access to some of my stories due to a RL plagiarist, specifically any AUs that can be sold as pro fic.

I'm mostly restricting access on sites I've specifically linked to from my LJ. He knows my LJ, but not the web of fandom.

I will be reopening stories as I read through them to determine how deeply they're embedded in their canon and couldn't possible be sold by him, not without a total rewrite.

I don't have knowledge of them removing other stories, or planning to do so. I've shared the gist of the correspondence regarding the story and its sharing here (http://community.livejournal.com/sgastoryfinders/3104283.html?thread=14232347#t14232347); I'll leave the decision on whether this belongs on your list or not to you. :-)

I still cry at the heavens when I think of Pepe no longer adding to my library. AHHHHHHH! I can't tell you how many times I still google just to see if she has changed her status (I think that makes me a sad fangirl).
