Military Daniel

Hi all,
I'm looking for any fics that deal with how Daniel assimilated into the military over the years. Think about it, in the beginning of the series he was decidedly unmilitary -haircut,physique, etc-and by the later seasons he looks like, well, a soldier. I'm looking for any fics that deal with this transition, and especially Jack's role in it-maybe he trains Daniel? Any fics about why Daniel started wearing a very military haircut in season three would be especially welcome.

Eh, Daniel was pretty spruce in the physique apartment way back in S1. Admittedly not as ripped as he gets in later seasons, when he has to wear huge sweaters in Moebius to hide that Geeky!Daniel is as muscled as he really is. :)

I don't know if I can suggest fics that fit your absolute specifications, but here are several that fit the theme, at least! All gen, natch.

Training Daniel:

Discere Et Docere (http://abyssinia4077.livejournal.com/141256.html) is Sam and Daniel through the years, including Sam training Daniel in their first year.

Don't Panic (http://sid.dreamwidth.org/33812.html), by Sid, is a fun little fic regarding weapons training.

Elementariness (http://kellifer-fic.livejournal.com/31827.html) by Kellifer is several short snapshots, spanning the seasons, of how Jack and Daniel's expectations and reactions change (even as their friendship stays solid).

Regarding the transition from floppy-haired!Daniel to short-haired!Daniel, the RL reason is that Michael Shanks played Hamlet and had his hair cut for it, then kept it short; in-canon, MS said at a con (not as actually canon, though) that Hathor is the one who cut it. Why Daniel chose to keep his hair short is a fascinating question and, sadly, not often addressed. However, try Mostly Harmless (http://betacandy-sgfic.livejournal.com/2874.html) by Betacandy, in which Sam and Daniel discuss blonde hair (hers) and glasses (his) and the need to be underestimated.
