[identity profile] lothy.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] stargate_search
I'm a big fan of stories about matriarchies, but they're not all that easy to find, so I thought I'd make a list. However, if I picked a particular fandom the list would be too short, so I made it all-encompassing - fanfiction, original fiction and even published novels.

Stargate seems to be the fandom with the most matriarchal stories of any I've seen, hence the reason for posting here. Does anyone know of any fics that I've missed, please?

The whole list
Atlantis section
SG-1 section

When you're reccing a fic, please mention how it fits the list? It would make life much easier for me.

Thanks!

SG-1:
A Slip of Metal (http://www.area52hkh.net/asl/ladygrey/metal.php) by Lady Grey (Jack/Daniel/OC, Jack/Daniel) Jack and Daniel form a bond with an ambassador from a matriarchal planet where women are so rare they are prized.

(Also, among published novels, Herland (http://www.amazon.com/Herland-Charlotte-Perkins-Gilman/dp/0394736656/sr=1-1/qid=1168304055/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-8365398-3324039?ie=UTF8&s=books) is the classic women's utopia.)

(Just wanted to come back and add two other classic SF novels: A Door Into Ocean (http://www.amazon.com/Door-into-Ocean-Joan-Slonczewski/dp/0877957630/sr=1-1/qid=1169604305/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-8498699-0143061?ie=UTF8&s=books) and The Gate to Women's Country (http://www.amazon.com/Gate-Womens-Country-Sheri-Tepper/dp/0006482708/sr=1-1/qid=1169604421/ref=sr_1_1/103-8498699-0143061?ie=UTF8&s=books). Also, The Fifth Sacred Thing (http://www.amazon.com/Fifth-Sacred-Thing-Starhawk/dp/0553373803/sr=1-1/qid=1169604491/ref=sr_1_1/103-8498699-0143061?ie=UTF8&s=books) has a society that's not rigidly matriarchal, but is definitely feminist.)

Daughters of a Coral Dawn, in published fiction, is very much a novel about matriarchal societies.

(Meanwhile, I'm off to explore the rest of your list, because this is really awesome.)
