Hi! I'm looking for rape-recovery fics. Explicit is fine, but I'd like the focus to be on the recovery part, not the rape part. Please no stories where everything is made better because the victim gets to have sex with their One True Love (although stories that eventually lead to other romances are fine).

Gen, Sam/Daniel, Daniel/Vala, Sam/Vala, Cam/Sam, or anything femslash preferred.

You might like Like Steve McQueen by Mo Phillips. It's Sam-centric and eventually a Sam/Janet fic, and it fits what you're describing very well.

I tend to like these, too. Here are some of my favorites, in no particular order (and, sorry if you have read them already).

“Someday” by Sid - http://www.area52hkh.net/ass/sid/someday.php
Daniel raped on a mission, the story of his recovery. He and a Jack are an established couple in this one.

The Disconnected Series, by Brionhet http://www.jd-divas.com/brionhet/brionhet.html
4 parts, but well-written and you do get there. “Rollercoaster” is a Jack/Daniel first time that doesn't end particularly well; “In the Rough” has tragedy hitting the team, especially Daniel; Disconnected is Daniel trying to cope, and Jack trying to fix things late; Reconstruction is heavy on the healing and humor. (I didn't always think the humor was true to the characters, but it was funny.)

Strix Varia – “Surviving”, http://sg1-heliopolis.com/helio2/archive/9/surviving.php
Sam is the victim and suffers but is still amazing.

Not exactly “rape recovery,” but covers some of the same ground. Set in an Old American West background, Daniel is kidnapped by the De Sala gang, and badly mistreated, and won't even talk when he's found again. Well-written (and from these ladies, of course it is!).

8 medium to very long chapters at Area 52: “Sand”, “Sun”, “Summer”, “Shadow”, “Stone”, “Sea”, “Spirit”, and “Sky”. This one is pretty controversial (at least one well-respected writer hates it) but I loved it and have re-read it several times. It's powerful and thought-provoking. Daniel and Jack are captured by a bounty hunter and barely escape with their lives – and that's just the opening page! Everything gets better and more complex after that. Mitch builds a detailed, complex world in which blue-eyed “small” men Earth-size humans) are Sky's, and have a difficult life – as Daniel is forced to find out. The story assumes he and Jack were a couple before the capture, and follows and explores how they both try to adapt and yet preserve their relationship in a society that's very difficult for them. Sam and Teal'c don't make appearances 'til late, but they're great once they do.

Alea Iacta Est by Mabyn – Heliopolis 2, http://sg1-heliopolis.com/helio2/archive/10/aleaiacta.php (The website is for the first part, “Deconstruction”.)
5 parts (and unfortunately, Helio 2 doesn't say what order they are in, so I will!):
1.“Deconstruction” 2. “Reassurance” 3. “Recollection” 4. “Reintegration” 5. “Reconstruction”.
Sam is the rape victim, and this is the story of her team, especially Jack, trying to help her recover – but everyone has important roles to play.

Front Row Center (http://robin.slashcity.com/frontrowcenter.html) by Robin Serrano is a fabulous rape recovery story about Daniel, attacked on Earth. Jack & Daniel friendship up to a bit of pre-slash at the very end. this and Sid's Someday are my two favorites on the topic.

I can't believe I forgot this one, since it is one of my favorites (and you may well have already read it since it's pretty well-known)-- "Servi1XY-13" by Sideburns, available at Area 52 (www.area52hkh.net)and The Alphagate (www.thealphagate.com), among other sites. It is J/D slash (well, it *is* by Sideburns). The rape is unconventional, but still rape; and this has one of my favorite psychiatrists in fan fiction so far.
